In Moscow a lung transplant operation was performed on a patient with CF

Within the Transplantation Programme, the Ostrova Charitable Foundation has provided support to CF patients who are on the waiting list for lung transplants. Vladimir Matveyev is one of those, for whom the fund has provided high-calorie nutrition needed for weight gain and improvement of physical indicators. The higher the patient’s body mass index before transplantation, the greater are the chances of surviving the operation and successfully undergoing the rehabilitation period. From December to March, Vladimir gained 13kg in weigh, and in April, he underwent a lung transplant in the Academic V.I. Shumakov Federal Research Center of Transplantology and Artificial Organs of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Russian Federation (Moscow). Vladimir is now undergoing the complex post-operational stage, and we wish him strength and a successful rehabilitation!
