Six doctors from Russian regions trained in kinesiotherapy methods

Kinesiotherapy is part of physiotherapy; it is one of the most effective ways of preventing acute exacerbations in people with cystic fibrosis.

The training course Pressing Challenges of Physical Rehabilitation. Kinesiotherapy and Chronic Lung Disease took place in St Petersburg on 3-14 April. During the course, paediatricians and physiotherapists from various regions of Russia learnt how to help CF patients egest sputum from the lungs by using special respiratory training devices and special exercises.

The course, led by kinesiotherapist Vladimir Matveev, took place at Saint Olga City Children’s Hospital. The participants included: Olga Bryzgalina (Volgograd), Svetlana Khalturina (Surgut), Anna Filippova (Syktyvkar), Lyubov Vaskovskaya (Novosibisrk), Marina Bakhterova (Cheboksary), Irina Kurneva (Kemerovo).

As part of its Training Programme, the Ostrova Charitable Foundation helped cover the participants’ travel and accommodation expenses.

All the participants will receive state-recognised certificates and will be able to apply the new knowledge they have gained in their regular work with CF patients.
