A seminar on kinesitherapy held in Lipetsk.

On 26 April 2017, a seminar on kinesitherapy for people with cystic fibrosis was conducted at the Lipetsk Centre of remote learning for disabled children.

During the seminar, the Centre staff (teachers of adaptive physical training and massage therapists), as well as parents of patients with cystic fibrosis, learned about kinesitherapy and its role in treating and preventing acute conditions of cystic fibrosis.

Olga Kudinova, a paediatrician from Voronezh who had undergone training in kinesitherapy methods in Moscow, was invited to take the floor at the seminar. Elena Kononykhina, paediatric gastroenterologist, delivered a presentation about nutritional specifics and gastroenterological problems of patients with cystic fibrosis.

Approximately 30 people took part in the seminar.

The event was organised by the ‘Help for patients with cystic fibrosis’ Lipetsk regional public organisation as part of Initiative Charitable Programme of  the Ostrova Foundation.

According to the organisers, Centre staff have become interested in kinesitherapy methods and have started applying the new knowledge in their work with children. The key goal of the seminar was to share knowledge about specificity of this disease with teachers and employees of the educational centre, dispel myths and biases connected with it and show use of active physical exercises for children diagnosed with cystic fibrosis.
