The conference Cystic Fibrosis – An Interdisciplinary Approach to the Diagnosis and Treatment of Complications was held on 20 October in Volgograd. It was the first step towards enhancing children’s healthcare and furthering the expertise of doctors treating children with cystic fibrosis in the region.
Event participants recognized the importance of a trend towards improving doctor-patient dialogue; it would help resolve issues pertaining to drug administration, as well as the hospitalization and out-patient monitoring of children and teenagers with cystic fibrosis.
The conference was opened by the director of the Volgograd Region Children’s Hospital pulmonary department, Sergei Akelyev.
This was the first time Skype conferencing was used in Volgograd; Tatiana Stepanenko, Director of the City Multi-Field Hospital No.2 pulmonary department (St Petersburg), gave a remote presentation on the particularities of treating cystic fibrosis in patients over 18 via Skype.
The conference’s keynote speakers were experts from the Volgograd Region Children’s Clinical Hospital and City Children’s Hospital.
