Results of the 2017 Chopin Awards

The jury for the Chopin Awards held its final meeting on 09 November, 2017. More than 50 applications from 40 regions were submitted this year! Nominations were received for the following categories: People with CF, Students, Journalists, Good Samaritans.

The achievements of the 2017 People with CF category winners are very diverse: athletic victories, academic and scientific successes, creative achievements, and professional growth.  People who voluntarily help and support patient organisations and children and adults with CF were recognized in the Good Samaritan category.

The Students winners were six individuals studying at institutions of higher education. If they successfully continue their studies, the Ostrova Charitable Foundation will pay the students’ scholarships twice a year after semester exams.

The Journalists winners were people who regularly address CF issues in their professional activities and provide informational support to the regional patient communities:

  • Ernest Musin is a freelance correspondent and assistant to the head of the Perm Regional Public Charity Organisation MechtaYaZhit (Dreaming to Live). Ernest made a short documentary film Growing Up Otherwise about a teenage girl born with cystic fibrosis.
  • Yevgeny Sirotkin is a correspondent from the Tatar-Inform media agency in Naberezhnye Chelny, Tatarstan. Yevgeny regularly provides informational support to the Breathe with Me CF patient community and actively covers various events, seminars, and charity activities held in Naberezhnye Chelny and throughout Tatarstan.

We thank everyone for their initiative, trust, positivity, and willingness to share their achievements and bright stories!
