Taking an Online Course at Brompton Royal Hospital

In December 2017, with the support of the Ostrova Charitable Foundation, pediatrician Ina Sokolov completed an online course at Brompton Royal Hospital.

A comprehensive educational online course «Managing the Care of Children and Adults with Cystic Fibrosis» is a project of the European Cystic Fibrosis Society.

«I think that since childhood I have known exactly what I would like to become in the future», says Ina. «I knew that I wanted to help ill children. But it was only when I joined the residence at the Scientific Center of Children’s Health and first met kids with CF that I understood that my medical career would be dedicated to these little incredibly courageous patients. I want to evolve in this field, I want to grow as a cystic fibrosis expert.

In my work I am guided by the principle «the better you know your enemy, the faster you can defeat it», so I considered it a mandatory and necessary thing for me to complete the online course at Brompton Royal Hospital. It was very interesting to learn new information, to assess the differences between care of CF patients in Europe and in Russia. After one completes the course one starts to understand that we (doctors, society) must work long and hard to provide to our CF patients, at the very least, the European standard of living (in terms of longevity and quality). I believe all doctors, and especially pediatricians, should take the course. This is the only way we, together, can establish correct diagnosis and provide necessary help».

In 2018, as part of the «Education» program, the Ostrova Charitable Foundation continues to receive applications for the CF online course at Brompton Royal  Hospital.
