The 41st European Conference on Cystic Fibrosis in Belgrade

The 41st European Conference on Cystic Fibrosis was held from June 6 – 9, 2018, in Belgrade (Serbia).

Twenty-four specialists and researchers (paediatricians, therapists, pulmonologists, geneticists, nutritionists, microbiologists, physiotherapists (kinesitherapists)) from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Perm and Stavropol assisted patients with cystic fibrosis took part in the conference.

The Russian delegation submitted a total of 10 reports and 27 poster presentations.

Ye.K. Zhekaite, a research fellow of the NGO of Cystic Fibrosis received a grant from the European Society for Cystic Fibrosis to present the results of a study by his department on vitamin D deficiency with cystic fibrosis in the Moscow region. For the first time in the country, doctors of the department demonstrated a deficiency of the vitamin in different seasons of the year and developed a correction scheme.

Yu.L. Melyanovskaya, a research fellow and medical laboratory scientist, was the first in the country to receive a European certificate on Diagnosis of Cystic Fibrosis Based on Modern Methods of Conducting a Sweat Test.

The report of the staff of the FSBSI Medical Genetic Science Center, Ye.I. Kondratieva, O.G. Novoselova, N.V. Petrova, A.Yu. Voronkova, V.D. Sherman, Yu.L. Melyanovskaya, R.A. Zinchenko, S.I. Kutsev, employee of the Institute of Genetics and Cytology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in Minsk N.I. Chakova and  V.I. Bobrovnichyj from the Belarusian State Medical University entitled «The Influence of Phase 1 Genes of Xenobiotic Metabolism on the Effectiveness of  Antibacterial Therapy in Patients with Cystic Fibrosis from the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus Homozygous for  Mutation 508» was recognized as the best in the section Genetics, Screening of Newborns, Diagnosis.
