On 17-18 August 2018 in Voronezh, a joint program was launched to perform genetic examinations for patients with cystic fibrosis and to reduce the number of sufferers without DNA diagnoses. This endeavour was performed under the collaboration agreement between the state-funded Medical and Genetic Research Center and Ostrova Charitable Foundation.
The program is to consist of medical consultations for children with cystic fibrosis; tests to examine the condition of lungs, the strength of respiratory muscles, and airway passage, as well as taking blood samples for genetic analysis.
A group of specialists plan to visit nine cities within six months: Voronezh, Kaliningrad, Yekaterinburg, Ulan-Ude, Irkutsk, Chita, Samara, Krasnoyarsk, and Kazan.
