On February 28, «Porto» premiered in Russia; one of the main roles in the movie was played by Anton Yelchin, a gifted actor and a charming, versatile, and educated person. However, even his admirers could miss a few things about this extraordinary man.
Anton Viktorovich Elchin was a famous American actor of Russian origin. He was born on March 11, 1989, in Leningrad (USSR, now Russia). He died at the age of 27, in the prime of his life and career, in a tragic accident on July 19, 2016, in Los Angeles, USA.
He is well-known in Russia for such movies as «New York, I Love You», «Alpha Dog», «Only Lovers Left Alive» etc. Russian viewers note his talent, charm, and charisma.
The audience was surprised by a fact revealed by Anton’s parents in a film titled «With Love, Antosha», which premiered in January, 2019. The film states that Anton suffered from cystic fibrosis, a diagnosis established since his early childhood in Russia. Upon arrival to the United States, Anton was observed and treated at a cystic fibrosis treatment center. Judging by the actor’s career, appearance and creative path, his condition was quite satisfactory. Once again, we need to stress that Anton’s death was not caused by cystic fibrosis. Later, a foundation was established in Anton’s memory; in November 2018, the foundation donated a significant amount to the clinic where Anton underwent his treatment.
Anton’s remarkable journey once again proves the inexhaustible potential of people struggling with severe illnesses combined with the advances in modern medicine.
