Development of the «Procedure for Providing Medical Care to Cystic Fibrosis Patients in the Russian Federation.»

Staff at the Medical Genetic Research Center and the state-owned Pediatric Consultative Diagnostic Center of the Moscow Province initiated development of the Procedure.

Russia currently has a shortage of outpatient care facilities for cystic fibrosis patients. As a result, patients can only be examined and can only receive treatment as inpatients. This increases the risk of infection with hospital microflora, and hospital stays are expensive and inconvenient for patients. On May 22, 2019, cystic fibrosis specialists met with employees of a department responsible for standardizing the work of medical personnel. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss documentation and schedule development of the Procedure for Providing Medical Care to Cystic Fibrosis Patients. The specialists discussed a Glossary of Terms and received training on the rules for performing a time and motion study and calculating time norms and workloads for medical personnel.

The time and motion study is scheduled to begin on May 27 and will last until early July in the cystic fibrosis ward of the Pediatric Consultative Diagnostic Center in Moscow; Municipal Clinic of Hospital No. 57, also in Moscow; and Ward No. 3 of the St. Olga Municipal Hospital in St. Petersburg.
