ECFS best practice guidelines: the 2018 revision

For a long time, the treatment of cystic fibrosis was limited to pediatrics. The situation has now changed. In many countries, children make up less than half of cystic fibrosis patients, and the focus and efforts are gradually shifting to treatment and social support for adults. Survival rates continue to increase thanks to advances in the treatment of cystic fibrosis.

A Russian translation of the ECFS “Best Practice Guidelines: The 2018 Revision” has been posted in the Библиотека section of the Foundation’s website.

This document is a revised and corrected edition and includes updated standards for treating cystic fibrosis that take changes in this rapidly developing field into account.

The document was developed by the European Cystic Fibrosis Society and approved by ERN-Lung, the European Reference Network for lungs, and its subnetwork for cystic fibrosis (CF Europe).

The latest version includes three working programs:

  1. The essential foundations for operation of a cystic fibrosis center
  2. Best clinical practices
  3. Quality management in the treatment of cystic fibrosis

The review will be of use both to the medical personnel of countries where cystic fibrosis treatment is in its early development stages and to those who are working in countries with established centers for treating cystic fibrosis.
