On October 21, 2019, a Public Chamber roundtable was held. The topic was “Improving Medical Care for Cystic Fibrosis Patients in the Russian Federation.” It was attended by representatives of ministries and the professional community.
One of the topics discussed at the meeting was a draft order entitled “On the Approval of Typical Industry Time Standards for a Visit with a Single Cystic Fibrosis Patient by a General Pulmonologist, Pediatric Pulmonologist, Rehabilitation Physician, or Dietitian.”
A photographic time-and-motion study of physician workflow was carried out with the support of the Ostrova Charitable Foundation.
The study resulted in new time standards for an ill patient’s visit with a specialist. The standards were needed to guide work activities in providing outpatient medical care (including time spent completing medical documentation):
- General pulmonologist for adult patients – 119 minutes;
- Pediatric pulmonologist – 112 minutes;
- Rehabilitation physician – 96 minutes;
- Dietitian – 114 minutes.
The final version of the document regulating medical care for cystic fibrosis patients in the Russian Federation will be adopted in December 2019.
